Irritable bowel syndrome is a gastrointestinal disorder that causes severe abdominal pain, cramps and bloating. With the lack of treatment options available to IBS patients today, doctors are turning towards natural remedies as treatments for their patients with IBS.

“How to cure ibs permanently” has been the question that many people have asked for a long time. IBS is an issue that is hard to treat, but there are some ways in which you can do so.

How to treat IBS without drugs

It’s common to believe that taking medicine is the only way to heal your stomach and feel normal again if you have IBS. Medication, on the other hand, does not treat the underlying cause of IBS; it only conceals the symptoms.

Natural treatments are incredibly successful at discovering the true reason of your gut issue and developing a treatment plan that will get you feeling better without the need of medicine. Surprisingly, when a person’s IBS is addressed, their tiredness, anxiety, melancholy, and brain fog symptoms tend to go away.

There are four methods to naturally treating IBS:

1. Get tested to see whether your ailment is indeed IBS.

I often encounter patients who have been told they have IBS but have not had a formal diagnosis. IBS is diagnosed by a process of elimination, which involves ruling out other significant gastrointestinal disorders.

Three tests are recommended: a live blood test, a dried blood test, and an RBTI analysis.

  • The live blood test will reveal the extent of inflammation in your gut wall as well as whether or not you have liver stress.
  • The results of a dry blood test will reveal if you have food intolerances or parasites.
  • Finally, an RBTI Analysis will reveal how acidic your body is, as well as how effectively you digest meals and eliminate pollutants via your gut.

2. Identify your food triggers and eliminate them from your diet.

A six-week modified elimination diet or a food intolerance test are two options for determining which foods cause IBS. Which course you pursue is typically determined by the intensity of your symptoms.

The Mullen Health Modified Elimination Diet eliminates gluten, dairy, sugar, and yeast from your diet, as well as a few additional foods that we’ve discovered to be harmful for IBS patients. We carefully reintroduce these items at the conclusion of the six weeks to discover which foods you have a problem with. The FODMAP diet is another popular option, which we often combine with our Mullen Health Modified Elimination Diet.

Our food intolerance testing, which I discussed in a recent article, is the second way.

3. Increase the amount of good bacteria and fiber in your stomach.

Because good bacteria acts as an anti-inflammatory, it is critical to increase the amount of these beneficial bacteria in your gut. Taking a high-quality probiotic pill and eating fermented foods like sauerkraut, kimchi, organic miso, and coconut yogurt are the best ways to achieve this.

Fibre, which is crucial for both feeding our beneficial bacteria and forming healthy feces, is severely lacking in Western diets. Organic psyllium husk (not the sweet chemical variants) and organic flaxseeds are the greatest sources of fiber (buy these whole, grind the amount you need for a week and keep in the fridge). Flaxseed also provides critical nutrients for the growth of beneficial microorganisms.

While Inner Health Plus includes two broad probiotic strains, Probex contains Lactobacillus Plantarum 299v, a particularly specialized strain of bacteria that has been scientifically demonstrated to help with the treatment of medically diagnosed IBS, including bloating, intestinal discomfort, and inflammation.

4. Don’t be too stressed!

Stress and unresolved emotional difficulties, in my experience with IBS, play a significant part in provoking symptoms. I’d say stress is responsible for half of the symptoms, while nutrition and lifestyle are responsible for the other half.

Stress may be difficult to manage since it is frequently brought on by external events. However, I encourage taking time each day to ‘de-stress’ with whatever soothes you — yoga, swimming, walking, a hot bath, reading, meditation, or anything else that makes you feel joyful and at ease.
